This project involved several stages, including surveying, base mapping, and drawing planting plans for nine School District properties; development of a public engagement and education strategy in collaboration with School District staff; and research, design, and coordination with the fabricator for unique educational signs for each of the nine planting sites. The project culminated in tree plantings with the community, Pottstown School District staff and students, and representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).
The Pottstown School District Urban Tree Canopy Enhancement Project was commissioned by the the Pottstown School District, with funding assistance from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and the non-profit, Save Our Land, Save Our Towns. This was the largest DCNR grant of this type awarded to a school district to date.
